How did you get involved in the health & fitness industry?

I’ve always been into sports since when I was in my primary and high school playing football, gymnastics and sprinting for school teams.
But in 2007 I met the 2012 Mr Kenya Meshack Ochieng and his brother 2015 Mr Kenya Michael Otieno who introduced me to bodybuilding. The two played a big role in my bodybuilding foundation despite offering me a free lifetime membership in their gym.

I did my first competitions in 2008,2009 & 2010 placing 3rd, 2nd & 1st in the middle weight category respectively
In 2011 I took the longest break of my bodybuilding career due to work related issues and couldn’t train until 2014 September when I made a comeback and won my first title Mr Nakuru three months later.
In 2015 I won Mr Nairobi title and Mr.Kakamega later in the year but came in 3rd in Mr Kenya and Mr Modern Fitness which I lost to Michael & Cassidy and Michael & Paul respectively.

2016 was my peak year coz I won all the tittles including beating Michael and Paul in Mr Kenya, defending the Mr Nairobi title despite having come from Ramadan and defending Mr Kakamega later in the year.
The year 2017 was never that competitive but I defended the Mr Kenya title despite having come from Ramadan and won it.

It has been a good experience of ups and downs as a competitive bodybuilder but I think with a good mind set everything looked easy and achievable.

What was your lifestyle like prior to your transformation?

Not much has changed so far coz looking back I don’t see anything that I used to do that I’d say if I hadn’t stopped doing I wouldn’t be where I am today.
But as you keep growing you learn to prioritize things and people….then in the process you loose some and pick some on the way that support your goals or people you share same interests.

What motivates you to keep training hard and stay on track?

Most of the time am motivated by the same guys I do inspire and motivate. There’s nothing that drives me more than seeing the guys I inspire and mentor grow bigger and better in fitness. It pushes me to work even harder knowing that someone somewhere looks up to me.

What is your current training style and split?

I do push for two days then pull for another two days then pull before taking a two day rest and apart from separating quads from hamstrings, I don’t do the same to other muscles.
My training techniques focuses more on recruiting as many muscle fibers as I can than building strength which to me is just a bonus.
